THE VISION BEHIND MINI MOMENTS

Sports have a unique way of anchoring us to unforgettable moments. Many people can vividly recall exactly where they were and what they were doing during these iconic events.
Why is that?
Like art, sports evoke powerful emotions and create lasting memories.
Take, for example, Jack Nicklaus making a legendary putt to tie for the lead (and eventually win) his fifth Masters at 42 years old. One of KW’s mentors vividly remembers every detail of that moment—what he was eating, drinking, and feeling.
Mini Moments are KW’s way of creating a portal: an opportunity for someone to reflect on and share an impactful moment in their life.

Ah, 1975, when KW was only a twinkle in his parents’ eye.

THE CREATIVE PROCESS
KW’s creative process begins with thorough education and research. This helps him capture these iconic moments authentically and discuss them with others confidently.
For instance, he reviewed ten different lists of Kobe Bryant moments, identifying the most frequently mentioned to create his own top 24 list #RIPBlackMamba.
Once the education piece is complete, he taps into his graphic design background, experimenting with digital mockups using Lightroom, Photoshop, and Illustrator. A significant amount of time is spent at this stage to ensure the canvas is as close to perfect as possible when he starts painting. KW HATES restarting once on canvas.
The canvas stage involves spray-painting the background base, and extensive use of masking tape and X-acto knives to layer spray paint on top of each other. Stencils are hardly used to ensure each piece is unique.

WINNING MOMENTS
Winning moments are attractive to KW because, for a brief instance in time, we get to see athletes as human. Their superhero status melts away, and they reveal their true humanity.
Think of Michael Jordan winning his third championship in a row (first or second time, your choice) or Serena Williams collapsing on the tennis court after winning a Grand Slam (choose any of her 23) — these are moments when all their hard work and dedication culminate in a raw emotional release.
KW selects these winning moments because they capture the athlete at their most vulnerable and authentic. It’s a rare glimpse into the emotions they’ve bottled up since childhood, finally letting everything out in a powerful display of triumph.
Even losing in a championship doesn’t evoke the same raw emotion; athletes often remain stoic, shaking hands, looking at the confetti, and maintaining composure until they retreat to the locker room.
